African Roots Guesthouse, strives to spice up your experience by providing a number of excursions in and around Entebbe during your stay. Excursion options range from; boat cruise, Nile perch fishing, birding, visit to The Botanical gardens, Zoo and open markets.

Boat Excursions

Ngamba Island is where orphaned chimpanzees have been relocated under the management of a group of dedicated conservationists including the Jane Goodall Institute.
The island boosts a total of 44 chimpanzees where excursionists can view them from a high plat form. There are two scheduled departures running daily (9:00am/13:00hrs) to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Sunset Cruise on Lake Victoria

Unwind and relax with a glass of wine and lots of other drinks as you cruise on Lake Victoria, the second largest in the world. This cruise will take you close to the lake shores, past a fishing village and airport while you watch the sun set. Drinks and snacks and sandwiches will be plenty on board.

Nile Perch Fishing

Lake Victoria offers the option of fishing Nile perch the largest fresh water game fish in the world. You can opt to fish half day or full day on the lake. Other fish species include tilapia, cat fish and silver fish.

Mabamba Swamp

Mabamba swamp is one of the few places where to sight the elusive shoe bill stork at any time of the day. The drive to this swamp from Entebbe is 1.5 hrs each way on a dirt road. A boat ride in a dugout canoe will wrap up your natural African experience as you wind within the papyrus reeds in search of birds among others which include; the globally-threatened Papyrus Yellow Warbler, grey headed gull, white winged terns, yellow billed egret, Madagascar bee –eater, long toed plover and many more.
BOTANICAL GARDENS
This beautiful gardens appeal to nature lovers. It boots a number of plants, birds, monkeys and a spectacular scenic view of the Lake – a good way to relax while in Entebbe.

Open Market

Close to The Guest house, there is an open colorful market which is busy on Saturdays. Interesting to see include how the local people go about with sales, the varied number of fresh fruits and vegetables including, tomatoes, sweet bananas, passion fruit, jackfruit, oranges, mangoes, water melon, pineapples and other food stuff including potatoes, dry rations, legumes and other house hold items.
